This image is exclusive to Alamy. The Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre is based on part of an old Ministry of Defence site on the outskirts of Ruddington in Nottinghamshire. The site includes steam and diesel locomotive and rolling stock workshops, local historic buses, a miniature railway, cafeteria and shops. The Great Central Railway (Nottingham) is a heritage railway, approximately 10 miles long, between Ruddington Fields and Loughborough South Junction. It consists of lines previously part of the Great Central Main Line and a Ministry of Defence branch line. The line has stations at Ruddington Fields (within the Heritage Centre), Rushcliffe Halt and East Leake. There is no station at Loughborough. The railway is currently not connected to the more established Great Central Railway in Leicestershire, although there are long term plans to reunite the two lines
