Left : Queen Mathilde of Belgium DHS (born Mathilde Marie Christiane Ghislaine d'Udekem d'Acoz on 20 January 1973) is the Queen of the Belgians as the wife of King Philippe, who ascended the throne following the abdication of his father, King Albert II, on 21 July 2013. She is the first Belgian-born Queen consort of the Belgians, and the only member of the nobility by birth among the current queens consort of Europe. Middle : King Philippe or Filip (born 15 April 1960) is the King of the Belgians, having ascended the throne on 21 July 2013. He is the eldest child of King Albert II, whom he succeeded upon Albert's abdication for health reasons, and Queen Paola. He married Countess Mathilde d'Udekem d'Acoz (now Queen Mathilde), with whom he has four children. King Philippe's elder daughter, Princess Elisabeth, is next in the line of succession. At age 55, Philippe is Europe's third-youngest reigning monarch, following the 48-year-old Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and the 47-year-old Felipe VI of Spain.
