Protesters and police outside Topshop on Oxford Street demanding Philip Green stops tax avoidance. Over 250, 000 protesters march in London to oppose the coalition government's public spending cuts. Teachers, nurses, midwives, NHS, council and other public sector workers were joined by students, pensioners and direct action supporters, bringing the city centre to a standstill. Ministers say the cuts where necessary to get the public finances in order. Some small groups, including antifascists, attacked businesses, shops and banks during a police stand-off in Piccadilly.
