Anatomic model of the nervous system of the trunk of an asexual adult human body (face on). The central and pheripheral nervous systems are depicted in yellow. The central nervous system (CNS) includes the brain and the spinal cord, while the peripheral nervous system (PNS) gathers the cranial (not visible here) and accessory nerves, their branches ans the sensory receptors. The spinal cord begins at the level of the medulla oblongata, passes into the spine and is connected to 31 pairs of accessory nerves, whose branches innervate the whole body. The structure of the main limb bones (in beige) is also illustrated with the bone marrow (in red), producing the blood cells, and the articular cartilages (in blue).
