All together in the floral dance: One of Britain's oldest customs, the Helston Furry (or Floral) Dance, took place on Thursday, when dancers skipped their way through all the main streets, about three miles, of the quaint old town of Helston in Cornwall, England's most South-westerly county. For the dance, through the flag bedecked streets, the men wear grey toppers and tails, and the ladies wear gaily-coloured evening gowns and picture hats. They are accompanied by the town band, playing the traditional tune. Dancing in the sunshine during the Helston Furry Dance. May 1969 P029108
