19.05.2008, Nancy, Departement Meurthe-et-Moselle, France - A street cafe in the Place Stanislas, one of the most beautiful squares in Europe, which owes its name to the Polish king (1704-1709) and later Duke of Lorraine (1737-1766) Stanislaw Leszczynski. Cultural life in the region of Lorraine flourished during his reign. In 1755 architects, sculptors and blacksmiths began work on the Place Stanislas, one of the most important architectural achievements of the 18th Century, and created a unique ensemble of architecture, art and horticulture. The square was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1983 along with Place de la Carriere and Place d'Alliance, two other components of the same architectural ensemble. 00A080519D093CAROEX.JPG
