A Pound of Flesh for 50p, an art installation by Alex Chinneck, is a full-sized two-storey house made from 8000 wax bricks that will melt to the ground over 30 days. It celebrates the history of an old candle making factory which was based in Bankside, London in the early 19th century. The bricks are cast in paraffin wax in beds of terracotta sand, matching the colour and texture of a real wall. The installation is part of the Merge Festival, an annual arts festival celebrating the contemporary culture of Bankside.
