A man, called a daiku kata, jumps across the roof of a Danjiri float as it turns a corner during he Kishiwada danjiri matsuri, Kishiwada, Sunday September 20th 2009. Ornately carved floats called Danjiri are pulled through the streets of Kishiwada during the danjiri festival or matsuri. Each float weigh about 4 tonnes and stands over 3 metres high. They are pulled by teams of up to a thousand people, young and old, and each challenges itself to skid the danjiri round street corners at great speed.
