postcard. 95. MARQUISE DE MONTESSON, Born Jeanne Béraud de la Haye de Riou, in 1737, Married the Marquis de Montesson, Lieutenant General, who left her a widow at the age of 32. Full of graces and talents, she inspired the Duke of Orléans with a lively passion. She married him in 1773, but their marriage had to remain secret. The Revolution having spared her, she was soon treated by Napoleon I. She composed a few pieces intended for her particular theatre. She died in 1806. Collections ND. Photo
