Billingsgate Fish Market was the world's largest fish market in the 19th century. and was near London Bridge until 1982 when it was moved to the Isle of Dogs in East London. There are plans to move it again with two of Britain's biggest wholesale food markets (Smithfield meat and poultry market and New Spitalfields fruit and vegetable markets) to a riverside site in Dagenham (more research needed for update on this).
