Theodor Herzl (1860-1904), born Benjamin Ze’ev Herzl, also known as in Hebrew as Hozeh HaMedinah, or 'Visionary of the State' was an Austro-Hungarian journalist and the father of modern political Zionism and in effect the State of Israel. He was born and died in Austria; in 1949 his remains were moved from Vienna to be reburied on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
