A 1909 newspaper portrait of ex-sheriff John D Sharp charged for involvement in the murder of senator Edward Ward Carmack at Nashville, Tennessee, USA . On the 9th November 1908, former senator & congressman Carmack was shot in the street by young attorney Robin Cooper, son of Colonel Duncan Cooper a politician, both political enemies. Both were accused of premeditated murder. Ex Sheriff John D Sharp was later accused of being complicit in the murder because he had been with the Coopers immediately before the murder and allegedly knew of the plan to kill Carmack.
