The tradition of **cuckoo clock carriers** originates from the Black Forest and goes back to the time when the famous Black Forest clocks - including the cuckoo clock - were transported and sold over long distances by so-called clock carriers on their backs. These clock carriers used a special back carrier, the "scabbard", to transport the delicate clocks safely to markets and customers.
