More information:

A striking red wall beside the railway in Bray, County Wicklow, carries the huge white slogan “BORN IN BRAY”, creating a bold piece of local identity and place branding alongside one of Ireland’s best-known suburban rail routes. The scene is close to Bray Daly station, where DART services link the seaside town directly with Dublin and continue south towards Greystones. Bray has been shaped by the railway since the line from Dublin reached the town in 1854, helping transform it into a major Victorian seaside resort and later an important commuter settlement. Electric DART services began in 1984, with Bray initially serving as the southern terminus before the network was extended to Greystones in 2000. The overhead electrification visible above the wall firmly places the artwork within that modern transport setting. Behind the lettering, a large advertising panel depicts rows of solar panels across green countryside alongside the words “Powering Up Ireland”, introducing a second theme of renewable power and changing energy infrastructure. The juxtaposition is particularly strong: an electrified railway, a solar-energy message and an emphatic statement of local identity occupy the same urban view. Solar generation has become an increasingly visible part of Ireland’s transition towards lower-carbon electricity, while electric rail provides an established alternative to private-car travel along the heavily populated Dublin-Wicklow coastal corridor. “Born in Bray” is more than a generic hometown slogan. It has been used for several years as a local marketing identity and is also associated with a Bray-based family of hospitality venues, including bars, restaurants and hotels. Local reporting traces the slogan to promotion around The Harbour Bar, while the Born in Bray organisation now uses it across its group. The image therefore combines commercial branding, civic pride, railway history and contemporary renewable-energy imagery in one recognisably Irish streetscape.
