More information:

Electronic roadside message sign in Latchford, Warrington, Cheshire, warning motorists that delays are possible during Creamfields, the major annual electronic dance music festival held at Daresbury over the August Bank Holiday weekend. The amber LED display reads “CREAMFIELDS FESTIVAL 27-30 AUG DELAYS POSSIBLE”, illustrating the effect a large regional entertainment event can have on surrounding roads, neighbourhoods and everyday journeys well beyond the festival site. Creamfields 2026 runs from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 August at Daresbury and marks 20 years at its Cheshire home. Organisers describe it as a leading dance music festival, with a large programme of DJs and electronic artists attracting visitors from across Britain and overseas. Cheshire Constabulary said up to 80, 000 music fans were expected and that policing would extend beyond the site, with attention also given to minimising disruption for local communities. On 24 August 2026 police announced that specialist pre-event searches had uncovered a sizeable quantity of class A, B and C drugs hidden and buried in the festival grounds. The haul included about 204 canisters of nitrous oxide together with bags containing ecstasy, MDMA and ketamine tablets. Officers said searches would continue before opening and reiterated the festival’s zero-tolerance approach to illegal drugs. The warning board therefore records both the practical transport impact of one of the UK's largest dance events and the extensive planning, traffic management, security and policing operation required around it. Latchford lies on the Warrington side of the wider road network used by residents, commuters and festival traffic travelling towards the Daresbury area, making temporary signs such as this part of the effort to alert road users to congestion and possible delays during the busy Bank Holiday period. It also provides a contemporary record of how major festivals affect transport, policing and local life in Cheshire.
