A sign marks Wariishi-zaka (割石坂, "Split Rock Slope") on the Sukumogawa Nature Trail near Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. According to legend, the samurai Soga Gorō Tokimune split a massive boulder here with a single sword strike in 1193 to test his blade's sharpness before avenging his father's murder on the plains of Fuji – part of the Soga brothers' revenge, one of Japan's three great vendettas.
