Birmingham Walk of Stars pavement plaque honouring Jeff Lynne, founder and frontman of Birmingham rock group Electric Light Orchestra ELO

Pavement star honouring Birmingham musician Jeff Lynne on the Birmingham Walk of Stars in Broad Street, close to Symphony Hall and Centenary Square in Birmingham city centre. The black terrazzo five-pointed star has a brass-coloured border, Jeff Lynne's name in capital letters and a small musical-note symbol identifying his contribution to music. Lynne received his Broad Street Walk of Stars honour in March 2014, recognising a career that has made him one of Birmingham's most internationally successful musicians, songwriters and record producers. Born in Erdington, Birmingham, in 1947 and raised in Shard End, Lynne became involved in the city's music scene during the 1960s, including membership of local group the Idle Race and later The Move. In 1970 he joined Roy Wood and Bev Bevan in forming Electric Light Orchestra, or ELO, in Birmingham. Following Wood's departure, Lynne became the group's dominant creative force, writing, arranging and producing the music behind internationally successful recordings including Mr Blue Sky, Evil Woman, Livin' Thing and Don't Bring Me Down. His career later included membership of the Traveling Wilburys alongside George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty, as well as extensive production work for other leading musicians. Lynne was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of ELO in 2017 and was appointed OBE for services to music in 2020. Birmingham's Walk of Stars celebrates people with significant links to the city and its surrounding region across music, entertainment, sport and other fields.
