Porsche 911 cars mounted on Gerry Judah’s looping 21-metre sculpture at the Porsche Experience Centre, Silverstone

Dramatic Porsche 911 sculpture stands outside the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire, England. Created by British artist and designer Gerry Judah, the installation sends Porsche sports cars soaring above the landscape on sweeping white steel loops, producing a sense of speed, movement and controlled motion even though the vehicles remain fixed in mid-air. The artwork is 21 metres tall and carries six examples from successive generations of the Porsche 911. The complete display includes a G-Series Targa, 964 and 993 Carrera, 996 Turbo, 997 GT3 RS and 991 GT3 Cup racing car. In this view, several red, white and dark-coloured cars project from the curving structure against a bright blue summer sky with scattered white cloud, while trees, grass and the Silverstone countryside form the background. The sculpture first appeared at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed, where Porsche celebrated the 75th anniversary of its sports cars and 60 years of the 911. It was subsequently installed permanently outside the Porsche Experience Centre Silverstone. Porsche later described the vehicles as painted in Guards Red, Carrara White and Bali Blue, colours chosen as a reference to the United Kingdom’s Union Flag. Judah is known internationally for monumental automotive installations, particularly the towering centrepieces created for the Goodwood Festival of Speed. His work commonly combines real vehicles with large engineered structures that suggest acceleration, racing lines and mechanical energy. The Porsche Experience Centre runs specialist driving sessions on purpose-built handling circuits beside Silverstone’s famous Hangar Straight. The centre also includes heritage displays, hospitality, event spaces and driver performance facilities. The sculpture therefore acts both as a public artwork and an instantly recognisable landmark celebrating the enduring design, motorsport history and cultural status of the Porsche 911.
