More information:

Giant Adidas “Choose Scotland” advertising mural featuring Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay covers part of the former Jenners department store on Princes Street in Edinburgh city centre. The footballer is shown wearing dark sunglasses above the bold yellow campaign slogan, while scaffolding, protective sheeting and a construction crane surround the historic building during its major restoration. The mural formed part of Adidas’s Trainspotting-inspired campaign celebrating Scotland’s return to the FIFA World Cup in 2026 after a 28-year absence. Scott McTominay was a central figure in the national team’s qualification and became one of the most prominent faces of the campaign. The wider advertising featured Scottish football, identity, national pride and popular culture under the “Choose Scotland” message, a deliberate reference to the famous “Choose Life” monologue associated with Trainspotting. The display was installed on the Jenners construction site in June 2026 and produced as a large-scale piece of outdoor advertising. Its location gave the campaign exceptional visibility on Princes Street, one of Edinburgh’s busiest shopping, tourism and public-transport corridors. Pedestrians, cyclists and city-centre traffic pass below the enormous portrait, contrasting contemporary sports marketing with the richly ornamented sandstone facade of a Category A listed Victorian landmark. Jenners traded from the site for generations and became one of Scotland’s best-known department stores before closing in 2021. The present Renaissance Revival building opened in 1895 and is undergoing redevelopment into a mixed-use destination incorporating retail, hospitality and a hotel. The image records Scottish football culture, World Cup promotion, Adidas branding, urban advertising, heritage regeneration and the temporary transformation of an iconic Edinburgh building
