Bottle of Maisel’s Weisse Original stands beside its tall branded wheat-beer glass on a wooden table inside the Belgian Bar in Altrincham, Greater Manchester. The beer has a hazy golden-amber appearance beneath traces of a creamy head, while the glass carries the traditional Brauerei Gebr. Maisel crest and Bayreuth branding. The brown 500ml bottle displays the distinctive oval Maisel’s Weisse label, with beer posters, warm lighting, exposed brickwork and bar furnishings forming a softly focused background. Maisel’s Weisse Original is a Bavarian hefeweissbier brewed by the family-owned Brauerei Gebr. Maisel in Bayreuth, Upper Franconia, Germany. The brewery was founded in 1887 by brothers Hans and Eberhard Maisel and remains associated with specialist wheat beer. The Original is brewed with wheat and barley malt, yeast, hops and water from the Fichtel Mountains. It has an alcohol content of 5.1 per cent and is described by the brewery as reddish amber, gently carbonated and characterised by yeast, banana, malt, fruit, clove and a hint of nutmeg. The Belgian Bar at 40 Greenwood Street is part of Altrincham’s established independent food and drink scene near the market. Although its name and much of its range focus on Belgian brewing, the venue also serves international beers, including German wheat beers and other European styles. Specialist bars allow customers to compare brewing traditions, glassware, fermentation methods and regional flavours that are less commonly offered by mainstream pubs. This image is suitable for editorial coverage of German beer, Bavarian brewing, weissbier, hefeweizen, imported alcohol, European beer culture, specialist pubs, independent hospitality, beer tourism, branded glassware, bottle presentation and Altrincham nightlife. The close composition highlights the colour and presentation of the drink while retaining the relaxed interior atmosphere of a neighbourhood bar
