The Mevlana Museum (Mevlânâ Müzesi) in Konya's Karatay district, Turkey, draws an international audience in front of the mausoleum of Jalāl ad-Dīn ar-Rūmī. The museum is the mausoleum of the Sufi mystic Rumi (1207–1273), with an adjoining mosque and former dervish lodge; the turquoise dome built over his grave in 1274 is considered a symbol of Konya. 17 December, the anniversary of Rumi's death, is also the day of the annual Şeb-i Arus festival, whose celebrations have gathered the visitors here.
