The Tilavet Room (Tilavet Odası) in the Mevlana Museum (Mevlânâ Müzesi) leads to the tomb chamber of Jalāl ad-Dīn ar-Rūmī. Until the building became a museum, the Koran was recited and sung here without interruption. Pilgrims now use their smartphones for their own devotions. The museum is the mausoleum of the Sufi mystic Rumi (Jalāl ad-Dīn ar-Rūmī, 1207–1273), with an adjoining mosque and former dervish lodge; the turquoise dome built over his grave in 1274 is considered a symbol of Konya.
