A traditional wooden house on the Nakasendo with a small entrance door houses a soba noodle restaurant. Historically, the close connection between shichimi spice and soba dates back to the Edo period. The ingredients, led by chilli, were regarded at the time as a remedy – keeping the body warm and stimulating blood circulation. Kiso, Nagano Prefecture, Japan
