A memorial stone for the girl Otama. In 1702, she attempted to evade the Hakone checkpoint and was executed by the small pond as a warning to others. The pond is now named after her: Otamagaike. The commemorative stone is bearing an inscription in Japanese calligraphy on the banks of a pond near the Amazake Chaya in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. In the background are the autumn-coloured slopes of the Hakone Mountains
