The historic garden of the Hesse House in Gaienhofen is the only garden that Hermann Hesse himself designed, laid out and tended with great dedication over many years. The garden combines elements of a self-sufficient farm garden with ornamental and flower areas and is considered an important testimony to the life reform and garden culture around 1900. Eva Eberwein regularly gives lectures and organises cultural events. Her commitment is described as "voluntary cultural work" because she preserves the house and garden as private cultural heritage and makes them accessible to the public. Erlenl
