Limoges-Bénédictins railway station was built between 1924 and 1929 and inaugurated on 2 July 1929. It is considered one of the most beautiful railway stations in France. The architect was Roger Gonthier. The building is characterised by a high dome (31 metres in diameter), a 67-metre-high bell tower and richly decorated Art Deco elements, including colourful stained glass windows by master glassblower Francis Chigot.
