A "Wiedenloch" – an opening in the timber through which twisted wooden ropes (Wieden) were pulled as binding material – rests in gloved hands at the Monhardter Wasserstube near Altensteig, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is a historical feature illustrating the use of raft timber and the joining technique of rafting. Rafting has been recognised as UNESCO intangible cultural heritage since 2022.
