. Scottish Shia Muslims, annual Imam Hussain Peace Walk, reading Quran through 36 Great Jct Street, Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland, UK, EH6 5LA. Photographed on 23 July 2023. The Annual Peace Processions of Edinburgh and Glasgow. The Shi'a Muslim communities of Scotland unite at these to walk in remembrance of the exalted sacrifice of Imam Hussain, grandson of the Holy Prophet, who was brutally killed in battle, along with his family and friends, for upholding the purest human values and for standing out against corruption and evil. His stance was a stance of divine love and of justice and mercy. a stance of the truth against falsehood. a stance of human awakening. and a stance of freedom against oppression. At this time, millions of Muslims across the world commemorate his martyrdom and remember the teachings he lived and died by. He is the inspiration of our mission. Our thanks extend to the Shi'a communities of Scotland for organising these processions. Within the history of public realm, accessibility in public events and buildings has developed from an optional consideration into a core expectation; Ramps, wheelchair participation and step-free routes show how physical access is translated into everyday design and event planning. Against the 2026 backdrop for public realm, community events remain important as opportunities for local organisations and families to share public space, while organisers increasingly plan explicitly for accessibility and safeguarding. Further subject-specific language includes wheelchair access, inclusive design, community procession, walking day, disabled access, community participation, step-free access, local tradition, inclusive event, community life, accessibility planning, multicultural, faith, Scots, Islam, and religion. Additional high-relevance terminology includes religious, parade, walking, Muhammad, and Islamic. The image also relates directly to wheelchair access, inclusive design and community procession.
