SJ 68 NE GRAPPENHALL C.P. FERRY LANE (east side), Thelwall 2/15 Thelwall Old Hall 8.1.1970 GV II House, visible features probably C17. Of sandstone, pebble-dashed to front, with gabled stone-slate roof. Of 2 storeys and 5 windows with central 2-storey porch and cross-wing to right. 2 mullioned windows to upper storey left of porch and that over porch are of 3 lights; only the second from left retains small-pane casements. Lower windows left of porch and all windows right of porch are altered with late C20 wooden casements. Door of 5 wedge-shaped oak boards on old wrought-iron hinges. The interior: (not inspected) is stated to have some oak beams but no major features.
