Framed vintage-style destination poster promoting Northwich and the Mid Cheshire Line is displayed against a red-brick wall. The colourful illustrated design draws on the visual language of classic British railway advertising, using simplified shapes, strong lettering and a restrained heritage colour palette to present Northwich as a destination for rail travel, waterways and industrial history. The word NORTHWICH appears prominently in red beneath an imagined waterside landscape. The central feature is the distinctive Anderton Boat Lift, represented above a tranquil green-blue waterway with a narrowboat approaching in the foreground. Trees, canal banks and open countryside surround the structure, while a mallard duck and white butterflies introduce wildlife and leisure themes. Small figures on the towpath help communicate walking, recreation and days out beside the water. Text beneath the place name describes Northwich as “Meander the Mid Cheshire Line and enjoy marvellous days out”. Northern and Marvellous Days Out branding appears along the bottom. The official Mid Cheshire Line poster collection identifies the Northwich design as featuring the Anderton Boat Lift. The Anderton Boat Lift is a major example of Victorian waterway engineering near Northwich. Designed to move boats between the River Weaver and the Trent and Mersey Canal, it opened in 1875 and overcomes a vertical difference of approximately 50 feet. Following closure because of corrosion, the structure reopened after a major restoration completed in 2002. The poster combines railway tourism, canal heritage, local wildlife and nostalgic graphic design to advertise Northwich as an accessible Cheshire visitor destination
