The Patten Arms, Warrington Bank Quay The Patten Arms facing Warrington Bank Quay Station. In the early 16th century the Patten family purchased the entire Winmarleigh estate. The family was noted for their contribution to the development of Warrington and also for making the River Mersey more navigable, Thomas Patten did this in order to ship copper ore to his works at Bank Quay and for establishing vital transport connections to promote other trade in the area. It was Patten's son, also called Thomas, who built nearby Bank Hall (now the Town Hall) in 1750.
