Cartoon, The Working-Man, from the Royal Westminster Exhibition. A satire on the Royal Academy Exhibition, where many paintings depicted working men. The four spoof portraits here imagine how four different politicians would portray the working man -- for John Bright he is pure and angelic, for Edward Horsman he is a threat, both to the monarchy and to himself, for W E Forster he is a studious self-improver, and for Robert Lowe he is a passive drunkard. A triptych of paintings by Fortunino Matania of King George VI dressed in his ceremonial Coronation robes. These paintings were adapted from three done of King Edward VIII for his Coronation. However, due to the fact the King abdicated before he was crowned, the ILN asked Matania to adapt the picture and re-draw the heads with that of King George VI (see picture number 10555106 for the original). The same was done with a special Coronation portrait of King Edward VIII by Albert Collings for the same publication. Collings re-drew the head of the portrait with that of George VI.
