Education
May I purchase an image and use it multiple times within a class hand-out?
Yes. The licence allows a single user to include the image in your classroom teaching tools, theses or presentations etc. You can distribute the resource or publication you produce, but you cannot share the image in isolation.
Is this collection available for children’s project work?
No, the collection is set up for teachers in schools and students in higher education. The collection includes images which may not be suitable for children. You should purchase the images for the children to select from.
Can I make arrangements for the whole school/faculty to have access to the collection?
Yes. We are open to discuss all sorts of requirements. For example, we could arrange a subscription service which will allow you unlimited downloads for a fixed, up front fee. The school/faculty could then have its own library of teacher selected imagery for the students, teachers and lecturers to use for homework and in the classroom. Please email limiteduse@alamy.com with your request. We will call you to discuss your requirements further.
Social Networks
May I buy an image and use it as my profile picture?
Yes. You can use the image as an avatar or use it to decorate any of your own social network profiles in any way.
May I use the image on a social network site and also in a blog?
No. You need to re-purchase the image to cover the two uses.
May I send the image to a friend so they can use the image as well?
No. Your friend will need to re-purchase the image for their own use.
Blog
If I include an image in a blog article, may I post this article on multiple blogs?
Yes. The licence allows you to include the image in any number of blog articles which you post. You cannot, however, pass the image to another user to include in their own article.

What do you mean by “cannot be used in a corporate site”?
The image cannot be used in any website which is supporting a commercial business and must not be used in any other area apart from the blog, chat room or forum of a not-for-profit website. The licence will not cover use within an advert placed on the blog site. We can license promotional use separately. Please email limiteduse@alamy.com to get a quote.
May I purchase an image as an identifying feature on the home page of the blog site I host?
You can purchase these rights but not as part of the Limited Use package. We would class this as branding and therefore promotional. Please email limiteduse@alamy.com and we will contact you with a quote.
I would like to open the collection up to all the advisors writing on the blog. How can I do that?

General Questions
Can I set up a finance account?
No. Limited Use is only available for purchase on credit card. We accept MasterCard, Visa and American Express.
I have purchased the XS file size but it is too small for my requirements. What shall I do?
I am afraid we are unable to credit the original purchase. Please re-purchase the image at the appropriate file size, according to the dimensions indicated.

How can I download the image?
Once you have purchased the image right click on the file size underneath the thumbnail and save target to desktop.
You can also download at a later date:
- Log on to www.alamy.com
- Select My Alamy from the home page
- Click on “orders and downloads”.
Do I need to get any more permissions?
These licences only allow use of the images in a non-promotional way so you do not need to get any more permission.
Can’t I just use Google Images for free?
The images available on Google Images are for viewing and reference only. Google doesn’t own the intellectual copyright so they are not cleared for any other use. All the images in the Limited Use collection at Alamy are cleared for the selected use when purchased.
