Anzac Day The service to commemorate the anniversary of Anzac Day is held each year at Soldiers’ Corner, Warrington Cemetery on the nearest Sunday to 25 April. The next service will take place on 22 April 2018. Soldiers from all over the Commonwealth are buried at Soldiers’ Corner, as Winwick Hospital was taken over as a military hospital during the First World War. As first citizen of the borough, the Mayor takes the lead in commemorating the anniversary of Australian and New Zealand forces landing at Gallipoli. 'Anzac' stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.
