In 1943 Torcross was evacuated as part of Exercise Tiger to allow troops to practice on Slapton Sands for the D-Day landings. Both the houses and the seafront are especially vulnerable to storm damage from rough seas. Slapton Sands is a coastal bar that separates the sea from the freshwater lake of Slapton Ley.
Location: Torcross, Devon, England.
