More information:

High-level interior view across Warrington Market at 2 Time Square, Warrington, Cheshire. Photographed from the upper floor, the image looks over rows of independent market stalls, food counters and retail units arranged beneath a large steel-framed roof. Shoppers move through the central aisles while traders display fresh produce, flowers, meat, gifts and other goods. Union flag bunting and red, white and blue decorations are suspended throughout the hall, adding colour and a celebratory atmosphere to the contemporary indoor market. The purpose-built market forms part of Warrington’s Time Square regeneration and opened in July 2020. It replaced the temporary market operation used during redevelopment and brought traditional stalls, specialist retailers and hospitality businesses together in a modern two-storey building. The council describes the venue as home to more than 50 independent traders. Alongside the main shopping area, the wider market complex includes Cookhouse at Warrington, a food and drink destination with international cuisine and independent bars. This elevated viewpoint shows the scale and layout of the trading floor, including the geometric stall roofs, broad walkways, mezzanine edges and exposed white roof trusses. Natural light enters through the extensive glazing at the far end of the building, where parts of the surrounding Time Square development can be seen. The mix of traditional market trading and contemporary architecture illustrates how established town-centre retail has been incorporated into a major civic and leisure redevelopment. The image is relevant to editorial themes including independent business, high-street regeneration, local food shopping, indoor markets, town-centre investment and changing retail patterns. It also records everyday public use of a key Warrington destination, combining commerce, social activity, hospitality and community life within a modern Cheshire market hall
