Erik Marcus, 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron loadmaster, holds a dropsonde for deployment into Hurricane Harvey from the Hurricane Hunters aircraft flying inside the hurricane August 24, 2017 over the Gulf of Mexico. A dropsonde collects data of the surrounding atmosphere that is remotely sent back to the aircraft by radio transmission. Hurricane Harvey is now a category 4 storm expected to hit the Texas coast causing major damage and flooding.
