Telegraph poles, or utility poles in US, can be found throughout the UK carrying telephone wires and electrical transmission cables. Not seen so much in towns, where cables are often buried, they are widely used in more rural areas. They were once seen alongside railway lines carrying signalling and communication information, but by 2023 these are mostly confines to heritage railways.
