Two giant busses will be flying on Frankfurt Rhein-Main Airport via a Boeing 747 on 16.4.1997. "Skywash", the world's first aircraft washing system that Lufthansa has put into operation, will save the technicians' wet hands in the future. The cleaning of the aircraft takes place like in a car wash: the machines are sprayed with a washer and then cleaned by large brush-mounted brushes. While in the past the exterior cleaning of a Boeing 747 took about eleven hours, the jumbos could now be clean again within three hours. Lufthansa has invested around eleven million marks in the new technology. |
