The groom is carried on day 1 and 2 from his village, travelling to his bride's village and home. The procession is led by a band of wedding musicians hired for the occasion. The followers all wear a turban of the same fabric. The procession stops at every home where refreshments are offered, often alcohol, so some followers are quite drunk by the end. The money (mostly 10 rupee notes) pinned on the groom and others in the procession are given by villagers, family, wellwishers etc, with their prayers/best wishes for the couple's future. After the wedding, the notes, considered auspicious, are redistributed to all.
