David's Citadel or the Tower of David, situated on the western part of the Old City of Jerusalem near Jaffa Gate, we see the minaret of a mosque, parts of the OLD City walls and also ruins of earlier periods. The citadel was built by the Mamluk Sultan Al Nasir Muhammad in 1310 and expanded by the Ottoman Sultan Suleyman or Suleiman the Magnificent between 1537-1541. Here in the courtyard are remnants from earlier periods like the 12th century AD Crusades. Old City of Jerusalem, Jerusalem, Israel. June 8, 2021
