Torres de Santa Cruz - is the name of two similar residential towers in the district of Cabo Llanos. The buildings were designed by architect Julián Valladares Hernández and built between 2001-2004 and 2004-2006. They are the highest twin towers in Spain. The 120 m high buildings have 35 above ground and four underground floors, primarily as apartments, in the lower floors z. T. also be used as office space. Most of them are condominiums (272 units per building). The Torres de Santa Cruz were after their completion, the highest residential buildings in Spain and are the highest skyscrapers in the Canary Islands. Anyone who lives in Santa Cruz or visits the city knows the Barranco de Santos, this dividing and ugly valley in the middle of the city. It has tried to create terraces and paths on both sides, but these are not really inviting. The paths are unkempt and full of dog droppings, the half-withered trees donate little shade, and the view to the Barranco is not exactly tempting. On the terraces left and right of the riverbed there were still banana plantations until 50 years ago. Now, below the bridge, there are modern residential and office buildings, including the Casa de Carnaval, which opened on June 28, 2017. The building, which is rather inconspicuous from the outside, has a colorful permanent exhibition on the Carnival of Santa Cruz and has rooms for events. I stand here at the imposing Galcerán Bridge, which was built from 1926 to 1928. For a couple of years love couples hang their "love locks" on the railing. In a valley, sports facilities were created, just before the next imposing bridge Galcerán, which was built from 1926 to 1928. Here, at this point, the river crosses the Avenida Marítima and flows into the port of Santa Cruz. Many people are not aware that this is really a river. Because he is mostly dehydrated.
