This is the Mottled Beauty, Alcis repandata, a geometrid moth sometimes referred to as geometer moths due to the apparent habit of the larvae (loopers) to inch along in a looping movement. These moths exhibit a form of camouflage known as cryptogamy i.e. they seek out similar backgrounds to their own markings.
