Tunnel After a long and thorough test of the overhead trolley, the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Company has decided toinstall a third-rail system. The heavy combination of Z-bars which formed the overhead conductor will be removedand current for the electric locomotives will be supplied bya rail running outside the wheel rails. This rail is to be ofthe standard A. S. C. E. section and weigh 75 lbs. per yard.Four miles of double track will be equipped, extendingfrom the northern to the southern side of the city of Balti-more. According to the proposed plan, in the stations and atsome of the crossings where special precautions are desir-able the rail is sectionalized electrically. The Murphysafety third-rail system is here used. To minimize thedanger of shocks to the workmen and others who may haveoccasion to use the tracks, the rail is paralleled on eachside by a pine plank set on edge. Ther
