The remains of the Ramesseum, the memorial temple of Pharaoh Ramesses II ("Ramesses the Great"), aka Ramses and Rameses, often regarded as the greatest, most celebrated, and most powerful pharaoh of the New Kingdom who reigned 1279–1213. The temple is located in the Theban necropolis in Upper Egypt, across the River Nile from the modern city of Luxor.
