The Prince of Wales turns a valve to start the pumps, during his visit to the Kempton Park Water Treatment Works in south west London, where he viewed a restored 62ft high engine which has been out of action for the past 20 years at the restored Pump House. * The engines at Kempton's historic Pump House were the largest of their type in the UK, each operating 1,008 horse power with a crankshaft weighing 30 tons. Now that the restoration of the engine is complete, the Kempton Great Engines plans to open the Pump House as a museum.
