The Plume Moth or Pterophoridae (family Lepidoptera) is a smallish moth. Plume Moths are not strong fliers because of their unusually modified pleated wings (½” to 1 ½” wingspread), resembling a small cross. Though they belong to the Apoditrysia like the larger moths and the butterflies, unlike these they are tiny and were formerly included among the assemblage called "microlepidoptera".
