The moving memoirs of the Lower Bavarian peasant woman Anna Wimschneider (photo: with her husband Albert Wimschneider, on their farm near Pfarrkirchen / Lower Bavaria) represent an unusual contemporary document and the greatest book success of recent years: So far, have been sold more than two million copies of "Herbstmilch". The new edition (Kabel Verlag, Munich) was published on February 20, 2003. Anna Wimschneider died in 1993 at the age of 74. However, the power with which she has described the almost exotic-seeming hardness of her life, lives on.
