Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi, the world’s largest annual, free-to-the-public, outdoor sculpture exhibition, had its media launch in Tamarama Beach Park today.
At the launch, the recipient of the Aqualand Sculpture Award, which has increased to $70,000 this year will be announced. This is the most generous prize in the Southern Hemisphere and will be awarded to an exhibiting artist with the sculpture gifted for the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust for permanent public enjoyment in Georges Heads at Headland Park.
The launch will provide a first look at this year’s 22nd anniversary exhibition.
The iconic exhibition will see the coastline transformed into a 2km long sculpture park over three weeks featuring over 100 sculptures by artists from Australia and across the world. Titled Kevin Draper-Configuration.
