RM2D33100–Commanding Officer Colonel Simon Wolsey pays tribute to those who lost their lives in the Iraqi conflict as around 250 Commandos arrived home to an emotional welcome, after weeks of fierce fighting in Iraq. The troops of 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery, *..who flew into RAF Brize Norton in the early hours, were greeted by their families at the Citadel barracks on Plymouth Hoe, Devon, with banners, union flags, balloons and air horns. But the joy of their return was tempered with the memory of the loss of three of their colleagues in a helicopter crash in the early days of the conflict.

RF2CCKXDY–William Jasper was a noted American soldier in the Revolutionary War. He was a sergeant in the 2nd South Carolina Regiment. Jasper distinguished himself in the defense of Fort Moultrie on June 28, 1776. The Liberty Flag designed by Colonel William Moultrie and waved by Sergeant William Jasper to rally the troops during that battle became the basis for the Flag of South Carolina, bearing on it an image of the palmetto tree that was used to build the fortress.
